YRI PRACTICE AREAS

The Youth Resiliency Institute (YRI) approaches the rites of passage process from a culture-centered perspective. Researchers suggests that culturally specific programs support youth, especially Black and Latino children and youth, in identity development and resiliency as they strive to understand and answer critical questions:

• Who am I?

• Where did I come from?

• What is my purpose?

• How will I fulfill my purpose?

Getting involved with children and youth through rites of passage processes is a long- term commitment. Still, YRI recognizes that adults, like children and youth, need the support of a proactive network. Our practice areas provide useful information for our network and the public on best and promising practices.

For seasoned practitioners who need to identify and develop best and promising practices for children and youth development, YRI has tools and activities to advance the field of knowledge in specific areas of practice:

• Community
• Schools
• Parenting
• Faith and Spiritual Discoveries
• Evaluation
